CSA Options for 2009

As many of you know, the Field Day Family Farm CSA is filled for 2009. Thanks to all of our members. For those still looking for a CSA, we highly recommend two other CSA's in the area:

This is the only farmer owned (of which Ivor is one of the farmer/owners) distribution center in Kentucky. Grasshopper's sells only locally produced beef, pork, chicken, eggs, dairy, vegetables, etc to local, restaurants and stores. They also have a large CSA which has vegetable, meat and dairy optons. They have several different farmers contributing to the CSA of which Ivor is one. Please call them or check their website for more information.

Facing West Farm is in Henry County and is farmed by our two good friends, Todd Childers and Megan Olliges. Their pick up spot will be in Louisville. Todd worked on our farm for many years, as well as working and studying farming in West Virginia. He returned 2 years ago to become our farm manager. Megan Olliges came to work on our farm 2 years ago from Hill and Hollow Farm in central Kentucky. We highly recommend Facing West Farm as a CSA choice.

CSA Final Week to Re-enroll and Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has emailed to let me know you are interested in re-enrolling for the 2009 CSA season. I have heard from more than half of our 2008 members. The cutoff date for re-enrolling was February 1st but because of the power outages we will extend this deadline to Sunday, February 8th. Please respond yes or no to the re-enrollment e-mail in your inbox if you have not already. If I don't hear from you either way I will call you to make sure you received this message before I start to sign up people from our wait list. Thanks so much and I hope everyone has power soon and has weathered the storm in good health and spirit.
