29 April 2009Thank you for becoming a member of this season's CSA. I will be sending out the information this week on protein and dairy options available for delivery at our CSA's pickup spots from Grasshoppers Distribution. Also, note that we have a new Highland's pickup spot.
The spring weather so far has been ideal for growing. In addition to Ivor, we have two full time employees and two full time apprentices in place so far. In June we will have 2 other full time apprentices joining us as well. We are "women strong" this season as we have 5 women on our staff so for the first time women are outnumbering the men.
The season started in March when Ivor broke ground. Planting and cultivating the land have been going strong since then. We are grateful for the mild and moisture filled weather.Thank you again for your membership.

This year the Highlands pickup spot will be at the home of Kathy and Brian DePrest at 1743 Spring Drive. We would like to thank the DePrest's for offering their home and driveway for this season. The pickup spot is close to the corner of Spring Drive and Speed Avenue. Please enter the drive from Speed Avenue and exit out Spring Drive. The harvest boxes will be in the driveway under a canopy, so it should be an easy drive through, stop and pick up situation. We again are requesting that you please break down your harvest box each week when you return it for ease of storage for our pickup spot hosts. When breaking down the harvest box, please gently unlatch the bottom slots so that they do not tear as they cannot be reused if they are torn or ripped.
We would very much like to thank Christine Brinkmann and Patrick Piuma and their children, Audrey and Katherine, for being the Highlands pickup spot hosts last season. They will be moving to a new home in the Highlands this spring and will continue to be CSA members.
Please remember, the Extended Season starts May 19th and the Regular Season starts June 2nd, Tuesdays, from 5-8 pm.Thank you so much for your membership and we look forward to seeing you this spring.
