New Highlands Pickup Spot Added

Starting Tuesday, May 27th (first pickup for Regular CSA members) we will add a 3rd pickup spot at 1723 Shady Lane in the Highlands. The time for pickup will be the same from 5-8 pm.

Family Farm Day - Saturday, 5/31 @11 AM

On Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. the Food Literacy Project at Oxmoor farm will celebrate the spring season with a Family Farm Day at Field Day Family Farm, tenant vegetable operation at Oxmoor Farm (9001 Limehouse Lane, near Hikes Point).

Enjoy a fun and educational day on the farm celebrating local agriculture:

• Harvest garlic and make garlic ice cream;
• Bake bread in a solar oven (if sunny) with homemade butter;
• Take home your own planted seeds for your garden;
• Crafts, activities and games;
• Meet the worms; and
• Bid on Silent Auction items to benefit the Food Literacy Project

Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket • $5/person suggested minimum donation.

*all donations to the Food Literacy Project are tax deductible.

Grasshoppers Distribution - Breaking News

A few weeks ago I posted information concerning Grasshoppers Distribution and the availability of meat, dairy and eggs to be delivered to the drop off spot along with our CSA's vegetables. Ivor just let me know that the deadline to sign up for this meat/dairy/egg option is today, Friday, May 2nd! I'm so sorry this notice is coming so late, I didn't know there was a deadline (and sometimes during farming season, we don't get much chance to communicate!).

If you are interested in this option, please call Berea Ernst at Grasshopper's by Friday. Her number is 502-582-1731. If you receive this message later than Friday, I think it would be worthwhile to give Berea a call on Monday too.
