Simple Fried Okra

Ingredients
1 pound okra
1 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Preparation
Combine cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the okra tops and slice the pods into 1/4 inch slices then dredge in the cornmeal mixture, coating evenly. Place okra in hot oil...Careful not to shake off the cornmeal; stir continuously. Fry until golden brown and drain on paper towels.
